How to host a successful CIYLR

Concert  In Your Living Room  to support a cause and charity that you are passionate about is simple in concept, but there are choices to make and planning to do.  The most successful CIYLR event is one where an organization and host team up with Dave to create a successful fund raising result.

  1.  The host may choose a charity, or the charity may find a host.

  2. Meet with Dave either by phone, Zoom meeting, or in person to discuss and plan the event.

  3. Choose your date and time based on your best estimate of when you can have a good crowd to join the event.

    • Any evening, keeping in mind your guests and their lifestyles

    • Weekends: Fridays in the evening, Saturday late afternoon or evening, Sunday afternoon

  4. The time of the event depends on how you want to entertain your guests with food or drink. Hors d'oeuvres only, light meal, dessert only, any combination, or no refreshments at all.

  5. Choose your audience from friends, family, business partners -- anyone who shares your passion for the cause.

  6. Decide on how you will pitch the donation method and suggested amount. Fixed admission to the event, suggested donation, host pledges a donation and guests pitch in with host making up shortfall...

  7. Create an invitation with RSVP; it should include a pitch about the charity, some bio from Dave, with a picture and description of the concert program. Track the volume of responses.

  8. Dave will bring printed programs for each audience member, and will arrive at least 90 minutes before guests arrive with his guitar.

  9. Have fun!    But oh there is such more to discuss to make it successful
